    Our services cover residential and commercial design/build, landscape management, and exterior lighting projects and also design center sales with DIY consultations. We also offer many sizes of athletic surface and equipment product suites complete with installation. Our newest division, VHC Pools, handles all of your pool needs.

  • Our VHC Design also offers site analysis, design, and management for high end commercial and municipal projects.

    VHC Athletics specializes in modular and synthetic flooring to gear up any indoor or outdoor space for recreational or competitive athletics. VHC Pools handles new installations, repair, maintenance, equipment upkeep, and seasonal closings and openings including winterization.   • 2012

    The Vande Hey Company, Inc. starts up their VHC Pools line of products and services.

  • 2009

    The Vande Hey Company, Inc. unveils its new business model; design driven sales with outstanding personalized customer service. VHC focuses its efforts to offer custom-tailored outdoor living spaces of any and all sizes. They also broaden their offerings by working with select professional business partners for additional outdoor living products and services.

  • 2008

    The traditional retail garden center is remodeled into the new design center showroom, showcasing creative outdoor living ideas like built-in grills, bars, fireplaces, paver patios, exterior lighting and much more.

  • 2007

    One door closes and another opens; after 28 years the Vande Hey Company, Inc. closes its retail garden center to focus on its core business of landscape design/build projects.

  • 2005

    Company changes its name to "Vande Hey Company, Inc." to encompass its wide range of products and services.

  • 2002

    Construction is completed on a large new production and operations building.

  • 2002

    Gerald's son Andy takes over as president of the company.

  • 1985

    The company is incorporated under the name "Vande Hey's Landscape Center, Inc."

  • 1978

    Our present-day retail center and office building begins construction and opens in the spring of 1979.

  • 1975

    Gerald buys 40 acres located at the corner of highways JJ and N in the town of Vandenbroek. Five days later, Gerald and his employees begin construction on the first company building.

  • 1971

    Gerald begins operating his lawn business full time.

  • 1967

    Len's son Gerald returns from the Army, purchases his dad's tractor and trailer and begins installing lawns part time.

  • 1950

    Len Vande Hey begins installing lawns while working in Kimberly to support his large family of 11 children. He names his business "Vande Hey's Landscaping".

  • Hardscape

    Retaining walls, paver patios, walks and drives, a shady pergola - these are the hardscape features that define landscape spaces. Through style, color and functionality they establish the ambience of your outdoor environment. They are the spaces and the movement between the spaces. So whether it's a deck, decorative fence or a gazebo, we can give your property the look, feel and function you desire.

  • Softscape

    How you utilize your outdoor space will determine the shape of your land. Flowers, trees, shrubs, lawns, wetlands, grasses and prairies all work in concert to define any outdoor space. Horticultural elements such as soil conditions, light exposure and wind direction must be considered when placing a plant. This ensures that the plant will be healthy, allowing the artistic elements of a plant's form, texture and color to appreciate in value well into the future. • Waterscape

  • The allure of the natural world is invited into your space with water. Water creates drama, soul, excitement, and mystery - it can tantalize our senses.

    Moving water adds vivacity and sparkle, it can be arched with jets, misted, sprayed, bubbled, babbling through rocks, even the simplest pond can hint at waters expressive qualities. The dramatic elements of lighting a water feature adds a new dimension altogether.

  • Reflective pools can add depth to the garden, bringing the sky down to earth and introducing a mood of contemplation.

    Aim for a depth of approximately 30 inches. The base must be dark to catch the best reflections. The influence of canals or pools is especially soothing in densely populated areas, where reflected light can relieve the oppression of surrounding walls and enclosing buildings, and can even help to brighten the interior of a house.

• Getting Started

  • A simple phone call or e-mail message to our office starts your project.

    Our sales coordinator will schedule an appointment for you to meet with one of our landscape consultants.

  • During the initial consultation our sales consultant will meet you at your home or business to evaluate the site and discuss your specific needs.

  • Our design staff will arrive on site to perform an in-depth site analysis, including detailed measurements and photos.

  • Our design and sales staff work together to create a unique landscape plan for your project.

  • Your design will be ready two weeks after your initial appointment.

    At that time, our sales coordinator will contact you to arrange a second appointment at our office.

  • During your second appointment you will be able to review your landscape plan with your sales associate.

    You will also receive a design booklet with detailed information on the plants in your landscape plan, as well as a computer-rendered photo to help you visualize your completed project.

  • Once your landscape plan is finalized, you'll be presented with a full proposal for your landscape installation.

  • When you're ready to proceed with your project, your installation will be scheduled with our production department

    and our purchasing department will order all necessary materials for your project.

  • Our production coordinator will contact you when work on your project is about to begin.

    Our production teams will then arrive at your site to begin construction.

  • Our production teams are supervised by certified landscape technicians to assure proper installation and quality worksmanship.

  • After construction on your project is complete, you will receive a detailed care guide for each plant and all other materials used in your project.

• Sustainable Landscape Design

  • It is important, as landscape design professionals, to be responsible for our actions and constantly aware of the effects our work has on the environment.

    The Vande Hey company recognizes the importance of responsible design, and will apply whenever possible, sound principles of sustainable design.

  • A sustainable landscape is more than just a decoration.

    By using less water, fertilizer, and pesticides than a traditional landscape, it has minimal impact on the environment. Thus, it is both aesthetically pleasing and environmentally sound. Creating a sustainable landscape means working toward a thoughtful balance between resources used and results gained. Generally, a sustainable landscape is also a low maintenance landscape.

  • A sustainable landscape requires as much, if not more, planning than a traditional landscape.

    Careful site consideration and design are required in order to manage stormwater and drainage while minimizing water problems.

  • Jeremy: Accounts Manager, Landscape Management

    Jeremy joined the Vande Hey Company in 2008, bringing a wealth of knowledge and experience with him. His landscape roles have included part-owner and Operations Manager of a landscape company in Manitowoc, Maintenance Superintendent for Ground One Enterprises, and maintaining both the corporate campus of Kohler Company and the Kohler family homes. Specializing in landscape management practices and hardscape structures, Jeremy is very active in the industry and continues to educate himself. He has given seminars at home shows, taught maintenance courses at NWTC, holds industry certifications for Landscape Management, Ornamental Landscape, Exterior Maintenance, and Professional Holiday Lighting and is working towards a Certified Landscape Professional (CLP) certification, the highest accreditation available. He also serves as a certification judge for the industry. Jeremy takes great pleasure in making sure his clients are happy and satisfied with every project he's involved in.

    Tom has been with the Vande Hey Company since 1996. He has multiple degrees that provide an indispensable wealth of horticultural knowledge to our team. Tom has spent the last 25 years using his degrees in biology/botany and ornamental horticulture to help people discover the exciting world of ornamental horticulture. Whether it be teaching classes at Fox Valley Technical College, being and instructor for the Master Gardeners Program, acting as curator for public and private gardens or working at the Vande Hey Company, Tom strives to provide correct and easy to understand answers to horticultural problems and landscape designs challenges we face in everyday life.
